The third victory of the season for Caja Rural-Seguros RGA came with Mauri Moreira. The young Uruguayan scored the first stage of the Boucles de La Mayenne after resolving a breakaway over the Frenchman Julien Duval (ALM). It is the prize for the combative attitude that the strong rider always shows. This performance gets him up to trird place overall.
In a day marked by wind and rain, the race started with a first cut of four riders who didn’t altered the plans of the peloton at all. It was a later brakaway of nine riders is that in the end played for the triumph, with Moreira among them. Together they were making a difference until, shortly before the last kilometer, the Uruguayan attack arrived to end up being imposed by pure power.
Mauri Moreira: “I want to thank all my teammates for their support on a very hard day because of the rain, the stage has been long but when the selection was made I felt good and I had the strength to get the victory, it’s a great joy for me and for the whole team, and an important point of confidence to face everything that comes .
On the other hand, another block of riders is participating in the Hammer Series of Limburg, where Alex Aranburu has shone with his own light in the Hammer Climb. The Basque has placed with his points to the team in fifth position in overall standing, waiting for Hammer Sprint and Hammer Chase, to be disputed next days.
Alex Aranburu: “In races like these with short climbs I feel very good. The race went crazy, we were all strong and we have to choose what attack you are going out of. When I had the opportunity. I tried to score as much as possible and I was able to score good points for the team, I am finding myself with good feelings, I hope to keep going and take advantage of it to fight for the next races”.
