Twenty-one riders will be part of the professional team of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA during the next season. The latest signing is Carmelo Urbano (Málaga, 1997), the current Spanish U23 champion and the fourth man who comes from the feeder team of the green squad.
His performance during the whole season has been almost perfect, with six important wins, among them the general classification of the Bidasoa Itzulia and the gold medal in the U23 Spanish Championship. Furthermore, he added fifteen Top 10 in all types of races. These great results allowed him to participate in the U23 World Championship in Yorkshire with the Spanish team.
Both Carmelo and the rest of his teammates will prepare an exciting season in the first training camp of the team, from November 18 to November 22 in Pamplona, to draw the master lines of the new year.
Carmelo Urbano: “It is an immense joy to be part of the professional team, a dream that I have always pursued. Last year I had the opportunity to ride in the feeder team and thanks to them I was able to become a professional. It is the team where I want to grow and to be part of. Not everyone is offered this kind of opportunity”.
“I have been racing for a short time, just for two years and a half, and I could not even imagine reaching this goal. Winning is never easy, but in this team, with effort and confidence, the victories began to come. I am very proud of the Bidasoa Itzulia and the U23 Spanish Championship because I think they are two important races that I will always keep in my mind. By 2020, my main goal will be to continue training and growing in the team”.
